U.K. - Laura Eastwood (Clifton 2000 - 2005)

After leaving St Peter's School, I studied Modern Languages and Business Management at Newcastle University and I spent my third year abroad at University in Shanghai. After graduating I began my career in retail, working as a Buying Assistant at Morrisons. I spent six and a half years at Morrisons, working my way up to buyer working on different categories from Skincare to Confectionery. In 2017 I was approached by a recruitment company about a buying position at a high end store.

This turned out to be Fortnum and Mason in London where I now work as the Grocery Buyer. In this job I am responsible for developing new and innovative products, and identifying and creating market trends. I work closely with suppliers and enjoy bringing new products to the store. As a buyer I travel all over the world to help identify trends and for inspiration, travelling to Italy, Hong Kong and San Francisco in the last six months. I am also responsible for delivering the sales and profit targets for my category. It is a great career if you are looking for something challenging and creative, and no two days are ever the same!

St Peter’s School gave me an outstanding education which I have built upon to obtain the position I now hold. One of my favourite memories from St Peter's would be the music trip I went on in L6 to America. It was the first time I had been to America, and we were lucky enough to play in some amazing venues in New York, Washington DC and Cape Cod.
