In response to the global coronavirus outbreak, St Peter’s School, York has implemented a strict visitor policy to safeguard the health and wellbeing of the whole school community. Following instructions from the government, the school site will be closed to pupils (apart from children of key workers) from the end of the day on Friday 20 March with no indication given of when that situation will change. We ask that all non-essential visitors also stay away from the school at this time. If your visit is essential, please read our visitor policy before you visit the school.

Clifton School and Nursery

Music

Ukulele group

From singing simple rhymes in Nursery through to instrumental performances in Year 3, music is a fun and vibrant part of school life for all children at Clifton.

Class and year group lessons are taken with a specialist music teacher, focusing on all aspects of creating music, from listening to performing on a variety of instruments. Group performances, including related actions and movement, are especially valuable in developing collaboration, coordination and creativity.

Individual instrumental lessons in violin, piano and guitar are offered from Year 2, and Year 3 have taster sessions in strings, woodwind and brass once a week. For those wanting to start sooner, pupils can take up the recorder from Reception.

The School Choir is represented by pupils from Years 2 and 3. They perform throughout the year at various venues and events including the School Christingle Service, the St Peter’s Whole School Foundation Concert and even the world’s biggest school choir event at Sheffield Arena.

However, everybody is welcome to get involved in music and performance with our Christmas Plays, End of Year Concerts, weekly assemblies and the hugely popular Clifton's Got Talent.
