In response to the global coronavirus outbreak, St Peter’s School, York has implemented a strict visitor policy to safeguard the health and wellbeing of the whole school community. Following instructions from the government, the school site will be closed to pupils (apart from children of key workers) from the end of the day on Friday 20 March with no indication given of when that situation will change. We ask that all non-essential visitors also stay away from the school at this time. If your visit is essential, please read our visitor policy before you visit the school.

Physical Education

Clifton Sports Day 2017

Physical Education is a key area in the curriculum at Clifton with all children from Nursery to Year Three participating in two specialised lessons each week.  As the children move up the school swimming lessons become a fantastic addition to their physical education.

The children are taught the skills of many competitive games as well as gymnastics and dance.  In Year Three all the children experience playing as part of a team in inter-school fixtures providing an important introduction to competitive sport.  Sports Day and the annual Swimming Gala are two of the highlights of the school year.

Clifton has access to the sport facilities at St Peter’s School, including a sports hall, pitches, swimming pool as well as our own Astro-turf play surface.

It is our aim to provide every child at Clifton with the opportunity to take part in a wide range of physical activities, learning new skills and enjoy the positives of team work and a healthy life style being active.
