House system

When entering Reception, each child is placed in a House, named after a region of York: Walmgate, Micklegate or Monk. Siblings go into the same houses.

To foster healthy competition between Houses, House points are awarded by the class teachers for exceptional work, effort etc. There is then a weekly House point prize; points are added up on a weekly basis and a trophy awarded in assembly for the winning House. These totals are also added up to give a termly winner. Each House has a House Captain selected by the staff from Year 3. These change termly. Names and profiles of each House Captain are on display in the Atrium.

There are also inter-House competitions. The annual Swimming Gala (for Years 2 and 3) held in March and Sports Day (for Reception up to Year 3) held in July, are both hard fought and fun inter-House competitions with trophies being awarded for the winning teams.
