In response to the global coronavirus outbreak, St Peter’s School, York has implemented a strict visitor policy to safeguard the health and wellbeing of the whole school community. Following instructions from the government, the school site will be closed to pupils (apart from children of key workers) from the end of the day on Friday 20 March with no indication given of when that situation will change. We ask that all non-essential visitors also stay away from the school at this time. If your visit is essential, please read our visitor policy before you visit the school.

Modern Foreign Languages

Teaching our children foreign languages is a wonderful way for them to develop an inquisitive and positive attitude towards other cultures, whilst learning a hugely valuable skill.

French teaching begins in Nursery and carries all the way through to Year 3, with a weekly 40 minute lesson taught by a specialist teacher.

Lessons involve learning through play, song and physical response. This lively and interactive approach to languages helps to nurture an enthusiasm for the subject, as well as skills such as focused listening, social interaction, numeracy and self-confidence.

Every summer term, an MFL-themed day, featuring food, art and live performances, is organised for the whole school to participate in.
