In response to the global coronavirus outbreak, St Peter’s School, York has implemented a strict visitor policy to safeguard the health and wellbeing of the whole school community. Following instructions from the government, the school site will be closed to pupils (apart from children of key workers) from the end of the day on Friday 20 March with no indication given of when that situation will change. We ask that all non-essential visitors also stay away from the school at this time. If your visit is essential, please read our visitor policy before you visit the school.

Clifton School and Nursery

Years 1-2

Clifton pupil in classroom

Years 1 and 2 are defined by a creative and dynamic approach to the National Curriculum, with learning based on themes such as ‘Life on an Island’ or set texts such as Stig of the Dump.

Teaching focuses on English and Maths, but aspects of Art, Geography, History and Science help children to develop new and unique understandings of a broad range of subjects.

Music also becomes a more prominent aspect of school life at this stage, as in Year 2, pupils are offered individual music lessons with our dedicated music teacher.
