Clifton School and Nursery has been shortlisted for Pre-prep/prep school of the year in the Tes Independent Schools Awards 2018.

Nationally, Clifton is one of only eight to have been shortlisted for this prestigious award (founded by the Times Education Supplement), which celebrates excellence and innovation in the independent schools sector, providing a benchmark for other schools across the UK.

The nomination comes after an academic year in which Clifton was found to be ‘excellent’ in every area by the Independent Schools Inspectorate. The school’s entry for the award was centred on its curricular focus on developing skills that will serve children throughout their lives: collaboration, reflectiveness, resilience and resourcefulness.

Clifton’s approach is already being recognised nationally, with around fifty state and independent schools having visited Clifton to explore this way of working, and the Head has shared his methods and findings on numerous visits to other schools around the country.

St Olave’s School has also been shortlisted for the same award, whilst St Peter’s is shortlisted for the Independent-State School Partnership award. The winners will be announced on Thursday 8 February 2018 at an awards ceremony in London.

Phil Hardy, Head of Clifton School and Nursery, said: “Being chosen as finalists is a recognition of the innovation and creativity which is the hallmark of our school.  Every member of the school community plays their part in delivering outstanding education for every one of our children. Clifton is an exciting and challenging place to learn and a place where we pride ourselves on always striving to be even better.”
