Pupils Spread Joy at Local Care Home

Clifton Musical Connections

Pupils from Clifton School and Nursery have been spreading the joy of song and dance at a local care home this week.

Residents of Ebor Court care home were treated to a visit by Clifton School and Nursery’s year 2 pupils. The children sang a range of songs, both new and old, with the residents singing along and dancing with the pupils.

The children had a truly wonderful time interacting with members of the York community with song and dance. Visits such as these reinforce the values Clifton School and Nursery is built upon, helping shape pupils into caring, considerate and community-oriented individuals.

Andrea Hayden, music teacher at Clifton School and Nursery, said: “It was lovely to see the residents’ smiles as the children walked through the door. They all thoroughly enjoyed interacting with younger children. Musically it is brilliant for our children, they sing in parts with the residents, make up actions together for songs and generally just have fun!”

The visit was organised with the help of Musical Connections, a York based charity who make music accessible to local communities through a variety of projects. As part of their work, they run community choirs and music sessions in addition to bringing music into residential care homes.
