St Peter's 13-18

Football

Stpeters27thSept 92

Football is a popular activity, available to our Upper Sixth form as an option in the Easter term, with 1st and 2nd XIs regularly competing against schools from across the region each week in the Easter term.

The School has two full-sized football pitches on the banks of the Ouse and also hosts the annual St Peter’s Sixes tournament at Play Football in York, where local schools come together in the spirit of friendly competition. St Peter's won both the Cup and Plate competition in the 2016/2017 season. St Peter's also enters the annual 'Hull Eights' competition and were the winners of this tournament in 2016.

In the 2016/17 academic year, the 1st XI went a whole season unbeaten for the first time in St Peter’s history. The Captain of that team, Ed Bottomley, was also selected for the North of England ISFA team.

Other representative honours in recent years have gone to Will Huffer (2015 England U16 team and now at Leeds United FC) and Gabby McGill (2017 England ISFA U16 team and now at Middlesbrough FC).

You can follow the progress of both the 1st and 2nd XI on the sports news pages, Twitter and Instagram.
