Old Peterite (OP) Day

St Peter's School

Old Peterite (OP) Day

Old Peterite Day (OP Day) will take place on Saturday 31 August 2019.

The day is a great opportunity to come and visit the school, enjoy tours, the Chapel service and the chance to watch the annual OP V School sports matches, whilst enjoying refreshments and the opportunity to catch up with friends.  We also have a play area for children, including a bouncy castle, which is available from lunchtime onwards. Refreshments are available throughout the day including a free BBQ, cash bar, and ice-cream van!

OP Day is open to the whole School Community and is a great way to bring together Old Peterites, their families, Parents, Old Peterite Parents, former staff and staff from the School.

We are delighted to annouce two new events for OP Day 2019. The day will begin with the opportunity to join us for a fun family swim in the School pool. You will need to register here, as places are limited. Then at 10am join us down by the river for a bacon sandwich, as we re-introduce the School V OP Boat Race! Please get in touch if you'd like to take part to represent the OP side!

Please register here to join us for OP Day, everyone is welcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the dress code for OP Day?

The dress code is informal. We have limited shelter and seating around the pitches, so you may wish to bring warm or waterproof clothes if the weather is unseasonal, and you may wish to bring a camping chair.

Can I bring my children?

Yes! Children are very welcome. As well as the new family swim session from 9am-10am at the pool (register here), there will also be a variety of children's toys and a bouncy castle available throughout the afternoon (weather permitting). Please supervise your children at all times, but all ages are very welcome.  Baby-changing facilities are available.

Is parking available on site?

Yes, you may park on site - there will be parking at St Peter's School and staff will be on hand to guide you. Once parking is full at St Peter's, traffic will be redirected to The Avenue for parking on the grass at St Olave's.

It might be necessary to park at Marygate if all spaces have been taken by the time you arrive.  If you have limited mobility, we are very happy to reserve a space for you - please contact us at alumni@stpetersyork.org.uk.

Do we need to come for the whole day?

Not at all - many people do, but you are welcome to join us for as much or as little of the day as you like.

Can I bring guests?

Absolutely - you are welcome to bring family and friends with you. Please register so we can

Do I need a ticket?

No - but please let us know if you would like to come, and how many guests you would like to bring; this helps us to plan our catering.

We can't be there between 10.30am - 11.30am - can we tour at a different time?

Unfortunately we can't arrange tours at other times on OP Day, because we're also getting the buildings ready for the start of term, but we would be delighted to welcome you for a tour on another day - please contact us at alumni@stpetersyork.org.uk.

I'm worried about coming on my own, or that I'll be the only one from my year.

Lots of people come on their own, and even if you don't recognise anyone, we will introduce you to other OPs - OP Day is a chance to make new friends, as well as seeing old ones.  Let us know when you arrive, and we'll look after you.

Can I buy OP memorabilia on the day?

Yes, between 10.30am - 2.00pm in the Memorial Hall.

I have some items that I would like to donate to the archives - can I bring them with me?

Yes - the Archives team will be on hand between 10.15am - 2pm in the Memorial Hall, and will be delighted to accept any donations.

I haven't been back to St Peter's since I left school - can I come to OP Day?

Yes! Lots of people choose to come to OP Day even if they haven't been back for a long time.  However,  if you haven't been in touch with us for a while, we would be grateful if you could also update your information, so that we can send you any updates on OP Day, and keep in touch about other events that you might be interested in.
