Old Peterite, Harry Gration, (Queen's 1965-1969) who has hosted the BBC’s Look North for many years, was given an honorary doctorate at a ceremony at York Minster on Thursday 22 November 2018.

Harry took to Twitter after the ceremony to mark a “lovely day” in a “superb setting”, and “an award I will cherish”.

He thanked everyone who took the time to congratulate him on his honour.

He wrote: “Still overwhelmed with so many lovely comments. When I looked up and saw the Minster packed it was a moving moment. Needed to gather myself! The Archbishop was wonderful. Thanks to all.”
