The Old Peterite Golf Day was once again held at York Golf Club and we were pleased to find the course in excellent condition. We managed to escape the rain and were treated to warm hospitality by the club for the evening meal and prize giving.
The annual event has been well supported in recent years, and I'm pleased to see more and more new faces attending. We've had great feedback from the day and I'm glad everyone enjoyed themselves.
The winners are as follows:
The Founders Trophy (Lowest gross) -Kevin Miller with a 73.
The Burnett Trophy (Best Stableford score) - Jon Stone with 40 points.
The team prize (Best 2 Stableford scores from each hole) - Charlie Parry, Ed Hilling and Jacob Smith (87 points).
The nearest to the pin was won by Mark Hepworth.
The longest drive was won by John Ramsden.
The inaugural TFC (thanks for coming) prize was greatly accepted by Tim Winepress.
Quickly looking forward to next year:
We are planning on tweaking the North vs South match by moving it slightly later in the season and will be using it as an excuse to tour some fantastic courses around the UK.
In May, we will once again be entering a six-man team into the Grafton Morrish Trophy. This is the major trophy of the Public Schools Old Boys Golf Association and the North regional qualifying is held at Huddersfield Golf Club. The aim is to qualify for the national finals, held at Hunstanton Golf Club later in the year. We are therefore on the lookout for single-figure handicappers to take part, so please get in touch!
If you would like to be added to the emailing list, please message email@example.com with your details.
We also have an Old Peterite Golf Society Facebook page so feel free to join us to be kept up to date with all the events.
Thank you to the Old Peterite Golf Society for providing us with this update.
