Why support?

Why support?

A quad on the River OuseAs we approach our 1400th anniversary, St Peter’s School is going from strength to strength.  The School is bigger than ever, and we cater for more children than ever before: we are celebrating forty years since the first girls entered St Peter’s, and children as young as two take their first steps in education with us.

This strength brings tremendous benefits for our community, but it has its challenges.  The School is rapidly outgrowing some of its current facilities, and others are reaching the end of their working life.  We need more classrooms, especially for Maths and Modern Foreign Languages; improved and extended sports facilities, including the Boathouse, sports hall, astroturf and cricket pavilion; investment in outdoor education; support for Sixth Form pupils; and appropriate facilities for music and drama.

Together, these facilities will revolutionise the pupil experience: every child, parent, Old Peterite and member of staff will have opportunities to benefit.

But we cannot do it without your help.

The cost of the necessary redevelopment is high, and cannot be covered by fees along without placing a significant burden on parents.

Past and present generations of pupils have benefitted from centuries of philanthropy by our community: the strength of St Peter’s today is the legacy of those who came before us.

As we move towards our fifteenth century as a School, this investment by our community will be our shared legacy to those who follow.

Now, we are asking for your help.  The first development for which we are fundraising is our proposed Boathouse – your support will not just bring the Boathouse in reach, but will bring our other projects a step closer.
