St Peter's School

Learn to Row Course

Nov 2018 York Small Boats Head 2Sebastian Brice, our coach, will be leading a 12 session Learn to Row course. Seb is a qualified rowing coach and is also a member of the school staff, being responsible for St Peter’s Fourth Form boys. You don’t need to be available for every session listed.

Due to popular demand, we are running another weekday session at 6.15pm on Thursdays, so that everyone can learn to row this term if they want to.

The aim of the course is to learn the basics of sculling (rowing with two blades each) in a crew of four. When you have completed this course you’ll be ready to join our novice session at 10.45am on a Saturday morning before joining our main Guy Fawkes weekly outings at 8.20am during term times and holidays.

You do not need to be ultra fit or particularly sporty but you do need a certain level of fitness to take the sport a little further, please see our notes on personal health and swimming ability on the application form.

Before the start of the course, you need to have British Rowing ROW Membership for insurance purposes.  This can be done online at www.britishrowing.org/membership/row-membership. Unfortunately, without becoming a member you will not be allowed to row.
