Students at St Peter’s School were celebrating today after receiving their A Level results.
We were delighted that 20% of all grades were at A*, with 51% at A* and A and over 80% at A* to B. At all three measures this showed an increase on results from last year, from the largest ever cohort of Upper Sixth at St Peter’s.
Results were impressive across all subjects with Further Mathematics securing 64% of grades at A* and over 90% at A* to A. English Literature also achieved over 90% of grades at A* to A with Art seeing a third of all grades at A*.
The school is proud of the achievements of all students and there have been some outstanding individual performances. A record 10 students achieved all of their grades at A* and over a quarter of the year group had a clean sweep of all grades at A* and A.
Seven students will be continuing their studies at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge and we have continued our long tradition of sending students to top universities such as Durham, Edinburgh, UCL, LSE, Warwick, Bristol, Imperial and King’s College London. The excellent results attained by our students opens up a wealth of opportunities at the top universities and other exciting pathways.
As ever, the range of courses reflects the wide interests of our students with Medicine, Finance, Engineering, Law, Languages and the Humanities being well-represented. A number of students will be taking all they have learned at St Peter’s to universities overseas and others will be embarking on degree apprenticeships.
As we celebrate the achievements of our A Level students, there is an exciting year ahead at St Peter’s as we celebrate the school’s 1400th anniversary in 2027. From this September we will be in our new configuration of a Junior School to Year 6 and a Senior School from Year 7 to Upper Sixth, with a new Sixth Form Centre opening in September 2027. We are celebrating 40 years of full co-education and, as the choir school for York Minster, looking forward to hosting the Choir Schools Association annual conference with a live broadcast on Radio 3. With The Rise Nursery opening in January 2027 families are now able to be part of the St Peter’s community from the age of six months old.

Our intention is to deliver the best education in Yorkshire and they, and their teachers, should be very proud of the work they have put in and the results they have achieved.
These A Level results give them the key to unlock higher education and exciting careers but that is only part of the education they have received. They have also achieved so much at St Peter’s, participating and excelling in a huge amount of activities beyond the classroom including sport, music, drama, debating.
We offer an unrivalled combination of academic success alongside an extensive co-curricular programme and personalised pastoral care. Alongside our sparky and positive atmosphere this supports Peterites in developing a strong set of values and skills. This ensures that they leave St Peter’s ready to make the most of all that lies ahead and to make a positive impact on their world.
