Congratulations to Year 11 pupil Sophia, who won a remarkable gold medal at the English Athletics National Under-16 Girls' Heptathlon Final at Bedford International Stadium.
Competing against some of the country's most talented young athletes, Sophia demonstrated exceptional determination, resilience and all-round athletic ability across the seven demanding events of the heptathlon. Her performances throughout the competition were consistently outstanding, culminating in her being crowned the overall national champion.
Among her standout performances were a 1st-place finish in the shot put and victory in the 600m race, showcasing both her speed and strength. Sophia also displayed immense focus and endurance as the high jump competition lasted an astonishing two and a half hours.
This national title follows an already impressive season for Sophia, during which she secured a silver medal at the English Athletics National Under-17 Indoor Pentathlon Championships in Sheffield.
