There was singing, dancing and plenty of House spirit on display as pupils took to the stage for House Sing 2026, one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the school calendar.
The competition was opened by last year's champions, Hope House, who delivered an excellent rendition of Sugar by Maroon 5. As reigning champions, they set a high standard from the outset with a confident and energetic performance.
They were followed by The Grove, whose performance of Wannabe by the Spice Girls impressed judges and audience alike. Their vocal talent was evident throughout, while the five lead performers at the front captivated everyone with their impressive choreography and stage presence.
Next came School House with A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton. Every pupil gave their all, and the hours of practice and preparation were clear to see in a polished and heartfelt performance.
Clifton House took to the stage with Dolly Parton's classic 9 to 5. Their infectious enthusiasm, wide smiles and boundless energy made them strong contenders for the title.
The audience was then treated to Temple House's performance of Steal My Girl by One Direction. A creative split between the girls and boys on stage, accompanied by creative moves throughout the song, won over both the crowd and the judging panel.
In a memorable first for the competition, the boarding houses joined forces to perform Justin Bieber's Eenie Meenie. Their performance showcased outstanding teamwork, with their collective spirit and enthusiasm shining through from start to finish.
The final performance of the afternoon came from Queens House, who sang I Want You Back by The Jackson 5. Strong vocals were complemented by a series of well-executed dance routines and a nice mosaic of Queens purple.
The judging panel consisted of former pupils and friends of the school alongside Mr Hardy, Head of the Junior School; Mrs Salisbury, Deputy Head (Pastoral) of the Junior School; and Mrs Clarke, Head of Educational Excellence and former Head of 2-8.
After much deliberation, the judges announced The Grove as the winners of House Sing 2026. Their combination of exceptional singing, confidence and memorable choreography secured them the title in what was a highly competitive and entertaining contest.
Congratulations to all pupils who took part for making House Sing 2026 such a vibrant celebration of talent, teamwork and House spirit.
Thank you to all of the staff who dedicated their time and talents to this year's excellent show!
