The Charity Committee is a pupil group made up from volunteer representatives from each of the Houses and includes children in all year groups. The group researches a variety of local or international charities and decides which one to make the School's charity for the year.
The group meets regularly to discuss ideas for fundraising and to organise events for our school community to raise awareness, and of course funds, for our charity. They also work closely with the Friends Of St Olave’s (FOSO), a group of parents who help to organise social and fundraising events for the parents.
This year our charity partner is When I Grow Up (UK), who specifically raise money and support one incredible school in Nairobi the Furaha Community Foundation (FCF).
From its start as a tutoring group for a handful of children, FCF has grown to be a vibrant Primary School of 500 children grades pre-Kindergarten to Class 8, and a boarding High School of 150 students - on its way to reaching its capacity of 200 students.
Each day every child receives vital friendship, education, physical and spiritual care. Alongside the school, a team of dedicated social workers visit the children and their guardians to bring support as well as helping them fight for justice.
The school receives no government funding but with the help of incredible volunteers from within the community, they are running a school that brings hope and a future.
