The St Olave’s U13 netball team have achieved an impressive third place finish at the IAPS U13 National Finals.
The Independent Association of Prep Schools tournament sees teams from across the UK compete, bringing together some of the sector’s most promising young netball teams.
The St Olave’s girls progressed through the pool rounds undefeated to reach the National Finals, held in Basildon, where they faced some tough opposition. The first game against Hurstpierpoint College finished in a narrow defeat, but the team bounced back with four consecutive victories against Eagle House, Dumpton, Highfield and Brighton College to secure third place.
Steph Wilson, who coaches the team, said: “To be named the third best team in the country is a fantastic achievement in itself, but what I’m really proud of is how the girls picked themselves up after a disappointing first result to come back and perform so brilliantly in the remaining matches. The hard work and perseverance they’ve shown throughout this journey has been really exceptional – well done girls!”
