Pupils at St Olave’s have been hearing from renowned author Matt Haig on the inspirations behind his new book.

The best-selling author of The Humans and How to Stop Time entertained a packed Memorial Hall with a presentation about the latest in his series of Christmas-themed books, Father Christmas and Me.

J2 and J3 pupils from St Olave’s, along with visitors from Acomb Primary School, Alne Primary School, Clifton Green School, and Rufforth Primary School and learned about how the hope and optimism Christmas brings inspired him to write this series of books. Through fun games and quizzes, the children also learned about developing and illustrating the characters that bring the stories to life.

Susie Lockett, Librarian at St Olave’s, said: “I am absolutely thrilled that Matt came to visit us today. To hear from and speak to such a famous author was a real treat for the children, who I’m sure will all have come away with their own original creative ideas. I would like to thank Matt for taking the time to come along, sign so many books and inspire us all.”
