St Olave’s School has been shortlisted for Pre-prep/prep school of the year in the Tes Independent Schools Awards 2018.

Nationally, St Olave’s is one of only eight to have been shortlisted for this prestigious award (founded by the Times Education Supplement), which celebrates excellence and innovation in the independent schools sector, providing a benchmark for other schools across the UK.

The nomination comes after an academic year in which St Olave’s was found to be ‘excellent’ in every aspect by the Independent Schools Inspectorate, and teams and individuals celebrated some outstanding successes on the national stage in sport and music.

The St Olave’s entry for the award focuses on the school’s use of eight core Learning Habits (collaboration, creativity, flexible thinking, curiosity, embracing challenge, empathy, perseverance, and initiative), which help pupils to develop the skills and qualities needed for a happy and successful life.

Clifton School and Nursery has also been shortlisted for the same award, whilst St Peter’s is shortlisted for the Independent-State School Partnership award. The winner will be announced on Thursday 8 February 2018 at an awards ceremony in London.

Andy Falconer, Master at St Olave’s, said: “It is a privilege to be part of such a wonderful school. The school’s success is dependent on our teaching staff creating a happy and exciting learning environment; where children are comfortable with learning from their mistakes as well as from their successes.”
