In response to the global coronavirus outbreak, St Peter’s School, York has implemented a strict visitor policy to safeguard the health and wellbeing of the whole school community. Following instructions from the government, the school site will be closed to pupils (apart from children of key workers) from the end of the day on Friday 20 March with no indication given of when that situation will change. We ask that all non-essential visitors also stay away from the school at this time. If your visit is essential, please read our visitor policy before you visit the school.

Martin S Taylor’s eagerly-anticipated visit saw him exert special powers over the Sixth Form as they formed a scratch, air guitar orchestra, found their left feet stuck to the floor and tried to beat back an army of aliens invading the hall.

What were these special powers? Martin first explained that there are no special, hypnotic powers and that instead, his show relied on suggestibility, a desire to be obedient and peer pressure. With those techniques, even the teachers were soon under his control, as they formed up the alien army of invaders.

Ben Fuller, who has organised the Sixth Form Lectures at St Peter’s for the last ten years, said: “Martin is always very popular and the students loved taking part in his demonstration. His visit is always a great end to this Lecture series and the students now turn their minds to revision and exams.”
