Sixth Form Programme of Study at St Peter’s

Lower Sixth Option Blocks 2018-19

Most pupils at St Peter’s will study four courses in the Lower Sixth and then three courses in the Upper Sixth.  For those who wish to stretch themselves further, a fifth course may also be studied in the Lower Sixth and a fourth in the Upper Sixth. The table below summarises the combination of courses.

St Peter’s Approach to A level reforms

We have decided to teach both the new linear courses and the old modular courses as they have been designed.  This means that subjects which have moved to the linear system will be taught as two year courses without any external exams until the end of the Upper Sixth.  Subjects which are still in the modular system will be taught as two-part modular courses with AS exams (which make up half the final mark) sat at the end of the Lower Sixth and A2 exams at the end of the Upper Sixth.

The move from old style modular courses to new linear courses has been determined by the Government and is reflected in the table below.
