High five for St Peter’s pupils

Five pupils from St Peter’s School, York have received offers to study at Oxford and Cambridge.

After overcoming the application, interview and admissions test stages, the teenagers are now set to study a diverse range of courses.

Boarding pupils Isobel Hedley (Head Girl) and Olivia Li have been offered places to study Classics at Clare College, Cambridge and Mathematics and Statistics at Oxford respectively. Jack Robins will study Medicine at Cambridge, Benedict Turvill (Head Boy in 2014/15) will read Theology and Religion at Mansfield College, Oxford and Max McLeish will study Music at Cambridge.

Max is following in the footsteps of his sister Katie, who also studied Music at Newnham College, Cambridge.

Head Master Leo Winkley said: “The standard of competition for places at Oxford and Cambridge is very high with applications coming from all over the world - these pupils have done exceptionally well.

“The breadth of courses our pupils are opting to study is tremendously impressive, and displays the wide variety of interests our pupils are keen to explore. We look forward to following their progress in the years to come.”
