St Peter’s Cadets Earn Their Berets

CCF Beret

Thirteen cadets from St Peter’s Combined Cadet Force (CCF) were awarded their berets last night at a special ceremony.

The ceremony marked the end of the recruit phase of the cadets training, where the cadets carried out a short drill demonstration, before being presented with their berets by Head Master Jeremy Walker.

Captain T Smith MBE, the School’s CCF Instructor, said: “The recruits have passed off after a new 33 week trial which has seen them complete all the recruit syllabus. This includes Drill, Skill at Arms, Map Reading and First Aid. The longer course has enabled the recruits a better understanding of shooting. This has enabled them to experience the indoor range, Dismounted Close Combat Trainer (DCCT), 25m Range and firing up to 300m at Strensall Ranges. They have also taken part in two field exercises and for the first time the best recruit Cadet Kong was also promoted to Lance Corporal.”

The cadets will now start preparing for their Summer Camp in July.
