On Tuesday 19 Nov the Recruit Platoon were taken out to Queen Elizabeth Barracks Strensall to use the Dismounted Close Combat Trainer (DCCT). This is the first range in a series of steps for the recruits to take with their Skill at Arms Training. After weeks in the classroom conducting dry training the cadets will now progress forward starting with the DCCT. The DCCT is a 10 Lane indoor Range which allows troops to train on a variety of infantry weapons, using a combination of video and computer-generated imagery.

After some practical Marksmanship training the Cadets went on to grouping at 25m and then onto 100m. This was followed by some snap shooting and firing at moving targets. All in all it was a very enjoyable afternoon with some very good shooting. The next stage for the recruits is firing live for the very first time on a 25m Range in the New Year.
