Senior Music Festival

It was a real joy to hear musicians in our Fifth and Sixth Forms performing in the Senior Music Festival Final on Thursday evening. This was the culmination of a process that started earlier in the week when we heard the rounds over three days in the Music School.
A wide variety of music and instruments were featured during the evening, including a full range of orchestral instruments, piano, boys’ and girls’ singing, electric and classical guitar. The repertoire was drawn from across the periods of music from Purcell to Santana. This was the first major live music event that we have run in school for these year groups since February 2020. It was good to be able to welcome a small, distanced audience of parents in the balcony of the Memorial Hall.

The standard of playing and singing was very high throughout and many congratulations to all of the performers who took part. The Senior Music Festival Prize was won by Charlotte Gee with an exciting performance of Miserere Paraphrase by Michael Nyman on the Soprano Saxophone. We were very grateful to Mrs Craven, Director of Music at St Peter’s 8-13, for adjudicating.
The performances were recorded and are available to the parents of the pupils involved.
