Award-winning author Val McDermid has visited St Peter’s School as part of York Literature Festival.

Author of 27 novels, Ms McDermid was in conversation with Festival Director Miles Slater. The two explored her upbringing in Fife, her career as a journalist and author, and her new book Splinter the Silence.

In an entertaining and humorous discussion, topics also covered football, cyber violence and the importance of education.

Ben Fuller, Head of the Public Lecture series at St Peter’s School, said: “It was fantastic to welcome Val to St Peter’s for our first event of the Festival. It was an exciting talk with plenty of laughs and great insight into her life and career. We’re looking forward to the visit of Carnegie Medal winner Tanya Landman visiting tomorrow.”
