St Peter's 2-8
Physical Education is a key area in the curriculum at St Peter's with all children from Nursery to Year Three participating in two specialised lessons each week. In addition to this, all children have a dedicated swimming lesson each week to develop their water confidence and stroke technique.
The children are taught the skills of many competitive games as well as gymnastics and dance. Inter-House competitions take place at the end of each half term for both Year Two and Three. This provides an excellent opportunity to practise their skills in a more competitive yet supportive environment. As the children develop their games skills, in Year Three all children experience playing as part of a team in Inter-School fixtures. This allows them to continue to develop as young sportspeople, understanding the importance of teamwork.
We have three whole school events each year including a Charity Colour Run, Swimming Gala and Sports Day, which celebrates all our young athletes.
St Peter’s School hosts great sports facilities including a sports hall, pitches, tennis and netball courts and a swimming pool.
We aim to provide every child at St Peter's School with the opportunity to take part in a wide range of physical activities, with enjoyment and participation at the heart of everything we do. This is designed to develop a love of sport and physical activity, leading to a healthy and active lifestyle.
