York river cruise

Wentworth on the river

Our junior boarders took a nice trip in the sun down the River Ouse on Sunday 15 May. The hour-long boat ride was very peaceful and included a guided tour about York’s history. St Peter's School featured in this tour: there was talk of the School’s old buildings as well as the famous Old Peterite Guy Fawkes. The cruise stretched all the way to the Millennium Bridge before returning along the river.

Wentworth boarders tackle footgolf

Boarders' footgolf

Our boarding pupils have been taking part in a new sport called footgolf at York Golf Range.

The game is a combination of football and golf, with competitors aiming to kick a football into a hole in the fewest number of shots.

Despite the chilly weather, the boarders had a great time and thoroughly developed their ‘footgolfing’ skills.

Our Wentworth boarders have spent their weekend paintballing at Harrogate Paintball Centre.

What was a very muddy and extremely messy experience was equally a lot of fun - less fun for the members of staff, however, who were targeted with the fluorescent paints and severely outnumbered.

'Capture the flag' was one of the pupils’ favourite games – the boarders also aimed shots at small cans to gain extra points. The weather was kind and the boarders were treated to McDonald's after the trip.

Junior boarders visit Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Wentworth at Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Our Wentworth boarders have had a cultural day out with a trip to Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

On what was a beautiful day, the pupils explored the Park and saw artwork by Antony Gormley, Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore.

The trip concluded with hot chocolates for the pupils before they returned to York.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park opened in 1977 and won ArtFund Museum of the Year in 2014.
