The Library Garden has been the site of a huge number of exciting environmental and artistic projects in recent years, turning it from a slightly downtrodden green space to a colourful, peaceful and biodiverse haven.

Library Garden Mosaic Design

Working with Anthea Firth, a local willow artist, St Peter's 8-13 pupils helped to create a willow tunnel and woven deer statues.

We installed nine bird boxes and five insect boxes.  In addition we have planted lots of bird friendly bushes and a bird bath.

Much needed colour and vibrancy has been added to the garden through the planting of over 100 spring bulbs and lots of annuals. In addition we are creating a tile mosaic to go on the wall in the library garden, showing images of the library and the work the Eco Club have done. This is with local artist Kirstie Briggs-Bateman. We have had a lot of colourful recycled plastic donated from Aaztec cubicles – we are creating some wall art and letters to go on the wall by the veg plots with this material.

To continue the storytelling theme from the library outside into the garden, we bought a storytelling chair and had 12 solid oak cubes made to create a reading circle.
