St Peter’s School is delighted to announce the appointment of Matt Carr as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Working closely with the Head Master and Governors, this new role will support the school’s strategic aims and development and also encompass the duties previously held by the Bursar.
Matt joins St Peter’s from Dulwich College in Seoul where, as Director of Business Administration, he has responsibility for the delivery of all non-academic aspects of the College including Finance, Estate Management, Operations, Human Resources, ICT, Procurement and Medical Services. More recently he was responsible for managing the College’s pandemic response. This included the measures necessary for the school to reopen successfully in mid-May.
Prior to his time in South Korea, Matt successfully founded and operated two international schools in Shanghai for the Dulwich International Group. For this achievement Matt was invited to Kensington Palace in 2019 to receive The Chartered Manager of the Year Award.
Before entering the world of independent education, Matt acted as Group Operations Director for Moloney Technologies Ltd. His role saw him start up and manage several companies across a variety of industry sectors. Previously Matt also worked for the law firm Norton Rose Fulbright and served as a Royal Navy Officer undertaking various challenging roles in the UK and across the globe.
Matt holds a Master of Business Administration from Portsmouth University, a Bachelor of Laws from BPP Law School, a BSc in Design Technology from the Open University and a Diploma in Mandarin Chinese & Business Studies from Beijing Foreign Languages University.
Matt is married to Jane and they have three children. The family are very much looking forward to returning to their home in Yorkshire this summer.
Head Master, Jeremy Walker said “I am delighted with Matt’s appointment and look forward to working with him a great deal. St Peter’s has rightly ambitious plans for the future and Matt will play a significant part in that. Matt has already been actively engaged with senior colleagues and we are all looking forward to welcoming him to St Peter’s.”
Matt will take up his role in early August.
