It is absolutely wonderful to hear sounds drifting from the Music School at St Peter’s 8-13 again. We were thrilled that so many of our children were able to have one to one lessons over Teams during lockdown, as well as also having weekly Virtulaosity Zoom concerts, but nothing quite beats having live music being made in person. We are looking forward to hearing the York Minster Choristers rehearsing each morning which will certainly lift the spirits as the days close in.

With the addition of 4 beautiful pods to give us more music teaching space, we have nearly 270 individual lessons being given by an amazing team of 26 instrumental and vocal specialists each week. The children have thrown themselves back into music-making and it has been lovely to see the joy on their faces.

Friday this week sees the next Virtualosity – with a slight difference.  The children will be in the room together, and the concert will be recorded and a YouTube link sent out. These will remain in bubbles so all our performers this week come from J5. Every year group will have two concerts this term.

From next week, our ensembles start up again, in bubbled groups. The auditions for our Chapel Choir are nearly finished and it is going to be so exciting to hear them sing again, as well as to welcome new members. We are hoping to offer upwards of 18 different ensembles, theory or choir experiences for the children during the week. We are so happy to back and are looking forward to sharing many more musical stories in the forthcoming weeks.
