The first ever whole school Carol Service will be broadcast virtually tonight for the St Peter's community to enjoy from home.
The service, which is usually held in York Minster, has been recorded in the St Peter's School Chapel and will be led by the St Peter's School Chaplain, Rev'd Daniel Jones.
As usual, the service will include prayers, reflections, readings, lessons, carols and a blessing. This year, the music will be provided by choirs from all three sections of the school including the Year 2 Choir, Year 3 Choir, J3 Choir, J4 Choir and the Chapel Choir. The service will also include the Minster Choir, featuring the York Minster Choristers who joined St Peter's School in September.
The Advent Wreath and Christingles will be lit as part of the service and families are encouraged to sing along with the carols at home.
Mr Jeremy Walker, Head Master of St Peter's School, said: "Like so many events this year, the Carol Service combines innovation and creativity as it is the first time it has been recorded in advance for viewing online. It is also the first time we have had the opportunity to have a Carol Service involving the whole school. There is much to enjoy with contributions from the youngest to the oldest pupils including Minster choristers."
The service will be live streamed at 6.30pm on Friday 11 December and will be available afterwards. The service can be watched here and the Order of Service can also be downloaded from this page so families can sing along.
