St Olave's pupil takes ten wickets in inningsSt Olave's pupil Olly has delivered an exceptional bowling performance in round two of the Royal National Children's Foundation Cup against Terrington Hall.

As opening bowler, he took all ten wickets in the innings, ending with figures of 10-7 from 3.5 overs. The figures better the great Yorkshire bowler Hedley Verity’s 10-10, which is recorded as the best bowling figures ever in first-class cricket.

The 13 year old claimed a hat-trick with his first three deliveries, and then struck twice more in the same over. In an unprecedented performance, every wicket was a cleanly-bowled dismissal.

Gareth Sharp, 1st XI Head Coach at St Peter’s School, said: “This really was an outstanding performance by Olly – the School has seen a lot of cricketing success in this cup (winners in 2011), but this was an extraordinary bowling performance and one I was privileged to watch first-hand. A number of current and former England players have already tweeted their congratulations, including old boy Jonny Bairstow, Ryan Sidebottom and David Willey. We’ve now got to concentrate on progressing in the next round - hopefully reaching our sixth consecutive finals day in this national competition.”

St Olave’s will face Aysgarth School in the third round of the tournament.
