The School Charter

We are excited to announce a new initiative for our school: the launch of the St Peter’s School Charter. This initiative captures the spirit of what it means to be part of St Peter’s, placing our school culture and values at the heart of what we do.

The Purpose of the Charter

The Charter was devised by school council members from throughout the school. Pupils came together to acknowledge what they felt most accurately described the environment they loved and wanted to build upon at our school. It is not a set of rules, but a framework to help ensure that all feel welcome at St Peter's.

The Four Pillars

At the centre of the Charter are four guiding principles:

The Seven Values

Alongside these pillars sit seven key values which underpin daily life at St Peter’s. They are:

• Friendship – building strong and supportive relationships.
• Trust – fostering honesty, reliability and integrity.
• Wisdom – encouraging thoughtful choices and a love of learning.
• Compassion – showing kindness and understanding towards others.
• Endurance – the determination to persevere through challenges.
• Humility – recognising the value of others and remaining grounded.
• Hope – looking forward with optimism and confidence.

The values are the habits, behaviours and attitudes which underpin the Charter.

Together, these provide a foundation for what it truly means to be a Peterite. The Charter is about more than posters around school – it is about living our values. It is about pupils, staff and families alike embracing what it means to belong to St Peter’s, and working together to create a culture where everyone feels welcome.
