OP Day 2023

back to calendar

Join us for Old Peterite Day 2023!

We are looking forward to a fun day of sport, good food and fun for the whole family. Whether this will be your first OP Day, or you've been coming back for years, we look forward to welcoming you.

Guests are welcome to come along and the invitation extends to Old Peterites, current parents, OP parents and current and former staff.

This informal event is free to everyone, with activities, catering and refreshments included. There will be a paid bar for those who would like a drink of their choosing and an ice cream van where you can buy something if it takes your fancy.

The itinerary for the day is as follows and offers a wide range of fun activities for you to enjoy.

FAQS

Are you planning to join us for OP Day 2023?

For those who have never attended OP Day before we hold a series of events and activities throughout the day for you to join at School.

Whether you plan to visit the school individually, or as a group with fellow Old Peterites or family, the Development and Alumni Team, colleagues and our OP Club Committee will be on hand to welcome you throughout the day. You can move freely from event to event at your own pace. The timetable for the day and directions are posted around the site on the day to make your visit to school as easy as possible.

You are very welcome to stay for the whole day or just call in to School for activities at the times shown.

Who attends?

OP Day is a whole school community event, from Old Peterites to current and former staff, and current pupils and parents, the day is a wonderful way to mark the start of the new school year and bring together our community! Bring along family members and any guests who might enjoy seeing the school with you.

We also have reunion groups who arrange to meet up with one another during the day.

Do I have to register?

OP Day is free and once registered you won’t need a ticket, but registration helps us plan with catering for the day!

There will be a bar for you to buy soft and alcoholic drinks on the day, as well as an ice-cream van!

Dress code:

There is no dress code for the day, it is an informal opportunity to see the school and watch some of our great teams including our newest Old Peterites compete against School for the OP Day Trophy! So please check the forecast!

The Hub:

Look for a gazebo by Clifton Courts, where you will find staff and volunteers on hand to help along with merchandise, raffle tickets, maps and information and the meeting point for school tours.

Boat Race:

We recommend getting down to the boat house for 9.45am to see the boat race at 10am. There will be refreshments including bacon sandwiches available.

Seating:

You may also want to bring a camping chair to watch the sports, though some benches and seating will be available.

Tours:

Tours will depart from the OP Hub in the morning and pupils will be on hand to take you to visit boarding houses, or places of interest around the school.  Please make a note of tour times if you'd like to see a specific house. Please note following the tours, access inside buildings will be restricted for the remainder of the day.

Tour timings are as follows:

10.15 The Rise and Queen's

10.25 School and Temple

10.35 Grove and Clifton

10.45 Manor, Dronfield and Linton

What will there be for children on the day?

As this is a family event, we want to ensure we have plenty on hand to keep everyone entertained throughout the day.

Free activities for children include face-painting, bouncy castle, outdoor toys and activity tables which will be situated behind the netball courts. We will have a children's entertainer for balloons and a circus skills workshop in the afternoon.

How do I join the family swim?

On your booking form please select to say if you will be coming along for the swim. This means we know how many people to expect at the pool first thing.

Where can I park?

Parking at the School will be limited on the day, we recommend parking nearby at Marygate Carpark. If you need an accessible space reserved, please contact us on [email protected].

Refreshments

Our catering team will offer refreshments throughout the day from the Dining Room in 2-8 (Clifton). This will include tea, coffee and cakes in the morning and be followed by lunch that will be served from 1.30pm throughout the afternoon. All venues will be sign-posted to help with directions on the day.

There will be an ice-cream van and bar for soft and alcoholic drinks on the courts at 2-8 (Clifton) where refreshments can be purchased all afternoon. Payments can be made by cash or card.

Please let us know about any dietary requirements when you register via the website.

What if the weather is bad?

OP Day will go ahead regardless of the weather, so please come prepared with raincoats or sunhats, depending on how things are forecast!

Merchandise

There will be the opportunity to purchase school merchandise from the OP Hub using cash or card. This year we will be offering a piece of St Peter's history with the sale of old Hymns books to raise money for bursaries.

I have some items that I would like to donate to the archives - can I bring them with me?

Yes - the Archives team will be on hand and any donations can be brought to the OP Hub. You can also email us [email protected] to ask if what you have is of any interest.

I haven't been back to St Peter's since I left school - can I come to OP Day?

Yes! Lots of people choose to come to OP Day even if they haven't been back for a long time.  However, if you haven't been in touch with us for a while, we would be grateful if you could also update us with your new contact information, so that we can send you any updates on OP Day, and keep in touch about other events that you might be interested in.
