St Peter's 13-18
We welcome all families to visit our boarding houses, meet our boarders and boarding house parents, and find out all they need to make the right decision for them.
Many of our boarders come from families who live only a short distance from the school, but prefer to be able to immerse themselves in school life and our vast co-curricular programme, without the stress of a daily commute. Others come from further away. With London less than two hours' travel on the train, and excellent links to Edinburgh, Birmingham and the West Country, children can enjoy all the benefits of a York and Yorkshire lifestyle and travel easily back home at exeat weekends and during the holidays.
The vibrant, supportive and happy atmosphere of our four senior boarding houses (two for boys, two for girls) is something we're very proud of. Boarding is at the heart of all we do.
There are lifelong benefits to children who board, and it's excellent preparation for independent life at university, offering family-style house life, with oustanding pastoral care, and lots of opportunities for close ties and contact with home.
Our boarders tell us they simply couldn't get as much out of life as St Peter's if they did not live on site and have access to the support, facilities and staff throughout their whole week. That's why there's more time for the things you love when you board at St Peter's.
York was voted The Sunday Times Best Place to Live in 2018, just the latest in a string of awards recognising the high quality of life the city's residents enjoy. A rich cultural, social, historical, gastronomic and retail centre, York is a rewarding city for children to explore, and ideally situated for those wishing to explore the coast, moorlands and other outstanding places to visit locally.
