Points of entry to St Peter's 8-13
The standard points of entry are at ages 8, 10 and 11, (Year 4, Year 6 and Year 7). Each year we are usually able to offer up to six Year 4 places, ten Year 6 places and eighteen Year 7 places.
Occasionally places are available at age 9 and 12 and can be considered on request.
The majority of our places are offered in February. Applicants applying after this time may well find that there are only Waiting List places available.

2. Meeting the Head and Boarding House
As part of the entry process Mr Falconer, the Head, will meet with all children who are sitting the entrance assessments. This is an important part of the process. All applicants will be contacted in the Christmas term to arrange this meeting.
3. Entrance Assessments
All prospective pupils must pass the school’s entrance assessment.
The entrance assesments take place in the January of the year of entry.
You will be sent a letter with details of the entrance assessments in the second half term of the Christmas term. You will also be sent a form to complete, where you can tell us about your child’s interests and achievements.
Although the assessment papers are a major element in selection, the offer will be subject to a satisfactory confidential report from your child’s current Head Teacher. You will be sent this report to give to your child’s Head Teacher before the assessments take place.
The entrance assessments will include computer-based maths, English and reasoning tests, a creative writing paper and a group task. We do not expect pupils to prepare or revise for the tests as they are designed to show us how a pupil thinks, rather than what they have covered in the curriculum.
4. Offer of a place
Candidates are informed of the outcome of the application process in February. Should a year be oversubscribed, some pupils may be invited to join a waiting list, from which offers can be made at any time up to the beginning of the new school year should a place become available.
Other admissions information:
Fee assistance is means-tested and some funds are made available for entry to J4 (Year 7). Applications should reach the school by 31 December for a place in the following September.
