This Friday sees the beginning of a brand-new St Peter’s School tradition. The catering team are inviting each House to choose a lunchtime meal for the coming weeks.
The first to choose the meal are The Grove, with Heads of House Pippa and Cris attending a meeting with the catering team last week. After surveying the House, from Third Form to Upper Sixth, they have decided on a mouth-watering Nando’s inspired menu - much to the disappointment of those asking for a second roast of the week!
There were some back and forth discussions on logistics. The Grove wondered if everyone could have access to a wider range of drinks and suggested having squash on tables. The catering team pondered on having a single staff member responsible for these refills.
Dessert is important to The Grove, requesting anything chocolate (or red velvet) as long as it can incorporate their House colours of red and black.
Today was the big day, and pupils were lining up outside the Lunch Hall eager to taste the peri-peri chicken burgers, chicken wings, peri-peri haloumi burger, fries with peri-peri mayonnaise, corn on the cob and tomato soup with balsamic vinegar. This was followed by the mouthwatering Grove House brownie with red and black icing.
They’re setting the standard for the rest of the Houses, who will each have a chance to choose the menu in the coming weeks.
