House Event

The annual St Peter’s School House Sing competition filled the Memorial Hall with music, movement, and plenty of friendly rivalry this week. Each House brought its own flair to the stage, as pupils showcased creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm in performances that had the audience clapping along from start to finish.

The judging panel — Mrs Clarke, Mrs Salisbury, and Mr Hardy — faced the tough task of choosing a winner from an impressive line-up. We have not included a report from School House who were unfortunately disqualified due to the actions of a small minority of pupils.

Temple opened the show with great projection, a wide range of voices, and slick choreography. Their infectious energy got the crowd singing along.

Manor and Linton joined forces for a collaborative performance that channelled Katy Perry’s pop power. Their original moves and determination shone through, even when a few shaky moments crept in. Mrs Clarke praised their energy and teamwork.

Queens impressed with their creativity and confident stage presence. While the vocals weren’t the strongest overall, the group worked seamlessly together, blending voices effectively — though Mrs Clarke and Mr Hardy offered differing opinions on that point!

Hope delivered a stand-out set, combining tuneful vocals with impressive choreography and instrumental skill, including a catchy bass and keyboard accompaniment. Their Justin Timberlake-inspired performance oozed joy, energy, and “va va voom” — and had the audience dancing in their seats.

Rise and Dronfield opened beautifully with a violin and keyboard introduction, taking on a challenging piece and switching parts seamlessly. Their ambition paid off, earning admiration from the judges.

The Grove had clearly been rehearsing hard, with an Oasis number that packed serious punch. A duet from Harry and Alfred stood out, and their team effort “shook us to our bones,” according to Mr Hardy — who told Mrs Clarke that the performance had made up for missing out tickets to the real Oasis...

Finally, Clifton rounded things off with a polished and powerful performance. Strong vocals, a fabulous solo, and brilliant audience engagement made for a memorable finale. Their timing, rhythm, and energetic “ooo ooo” chorus brought the hall to life.

After much deliberation, the judges crowned Hope the House Sing champions — a well-deserved win for their uplifting and professional performance.
