St. Peter's School Hosts Successful "The Puzzle of Christianity LIVE" Conference

St. Peter's School recently welcomed over 200 enthusiastic pupils from various corners of the country to its vibrant campus in York for the much-anticipated "The Puzzle of Christianity LIVE" conference. Organized by Candle Conferences and spearheaded by the esteemed Dr. Vardy, the event proved to be a resounding success.

Mr. Bembridge, Head of RS and Philosophy at St. Peter's, expressed his delight, stating, "The Puzzle of Christianity LIVE was an enriching experience for our students, offering them invaluable insights into the complexities of theology and philosophy."

Throughout the day, participants engaged in stimulating discussions and deepened their understanding of crucial topics pertinent to their A Level studies. Dr. Vardy's dynamic presentations captivated attendees, encouraging them to explore the intricate nuances of Christian theology and its intersections with philosophy.

The conference agenda featured thought-provoking sessions, including:

The Nature of God: Delving into the profound concept of God in Christianity, attendees grappled with questions surrounding Jesus' status, the Trinity, and divine attributes like omnipotence and omniscience.

Christianity and other Religions: Dr. Vardy led a compelling discussion on the compatibility of Christian beliefs with universalism, inclusivism, and pluralism, offering fresh perspectives on inter-faith relations.

Secularism and Secularisation: Examining the impact of secularization on Christianity in the modern era, participants explored diverse arguments for secularism and Christian responses to prevailing ideologies.

A Theology of Liberation?: The final session delved into the Roman Catholic Church's response to Liberation Theology, prompting reflections on Jesus, authority, and the intricate dynamics between religion and politics.

Reflecting on the day's events, Mr. Bembridge remarked, "The conference provided our students with a platform to deepen their critical thinking skills and engage with philosophical inquiries at a profound level."

The "Puzzle of Christianity LIVE" conference was not only a testament to St. Peter's commitment to academic excellence but also to the enduring relevance of theology and philosophy in contemporary discourse.
