A love of singing is the key to becoming a chorister. We are looking for boys and girls who enjoy making music, are enthusiastic about learning and will bring their own passions and personalities to St Peter’s School.
Chorister Experience Day
Saturday 5 October, 2.30pm - 6:30pm
Does your child love singing?
Join York Minster’s Music Department and staff from St Peter’s School, York on Saturday 5 October and become a chorister for a day.
Children will meet at York Minster at 2.30pm where they will have the chance to explore life as a York Minster Chorister through fun, child-focused activities. They will learn simple songs with expert music tutors, have a go on the cathedral’s Grand Organ, and even try on a cassock, before joining a rehearsal with the Choir of York Minster and singing at a service of Choral Evensong.
There will be an opportunity for parents to attend a question-and-answer session about being a chorister, before attending Choral Evensong at 5.30pm to hear their children perform.
All children interested in singing are welcome to attend, no prior experience is required.
This event is recommended for children in school years 2 and 3.
Pre-booking is required for this event. Please book here:

Choristerships are open to all and additional means-tested funding is available to those who may not be able to afford the remaining part of the fee, which may potentially increase the level of funding to 100%. Please contact us if you would like to know more.
Once choristers reach Third Form (Y9) and leave the choir they will be able to apply for music scholarships and means-tested bursaries to ensure that they can continue their education at St Peter’s.
