Old Peterite, Richard Elsy, was honoured to have been invited to King Charles III’s Coronation last month, proudly wearing his old St Peter’s School tie, and his 1953 Coronation medal, at such an historic occasion!
Richard and his wife, Faasalaupu’s, invitations to the Coronation and Windsor Castle Concert came about through the Governor General of Tuvalu and the Tuvalu Ambassador in Dubai, who is also accredited as High Commissioner to the Court of St James.
Both joined old friends for lunch and a party not too far from Westminster after the ceremony.
Richard said that it was an “Utterly remarkable experience.” If you have a look at any of the footage which shows Katy Perry, as well as Rishi Sunak in the pulpit reading the lesson, you may get a glimpse of two ladies wearing floral head garlands, Faa and Nafiata, flanked by two men dressed in grey, Richard and his friend Neil.
