We are incredibly proud to share that the OP-linked Northern Lights, Durham University’s competitive a cappella group, have won FIRST PLACE 🥇as 2026 National Champions. They have made history as the first group ever to win this in four consecutive years!
In January, Northern Lights returned to St Peter’s to give a workshop and a performance in the Memorial Hall. A wonderful audience enjoyed a fun and uplifting show and saw the first performance of the winning set. The group has a growing history with OPs; Rupert (School, 2020) served as their Beatbox and Bass for three years, followed on by Will (Queen’s 2024), their current Bass and President.
Having won in the UK, the group can now progress to the international finals in New York. Follow their progress online as they continue performing in many ambitious opportunities - including a two-week run at the Edinburgh Fringe.
The group wished to say thank you to the St Peter's community for their support, and for continuing to follow their journey.
