Public Lecture with Dr Eve Poole OBE
St Peter’s was delighted to welcome Dr Eve Poole OBE on Monday 15 September for a thought-provoking public lecture that drew a large and engaged audience. Dr Poole invited listeners to reflect on some of the most pressing questions of our age: the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence, its relationship with human consciousness, and the profound ethical challenges it poses. Her lecture explored not only the potential of AI, but also its implications for how we define humanity, creativity, and moral responsibility in an increasingly digital world.
Alongside her expertise on leadership and ethics, Dr Poole brings a wealth of experience to these debates. She currently chairs the Woodard Corporation, serves as a Lay Canon at York Minster, and has written extensively on leadership, faith, and education. Her books and mentoring work continue to inspire readers and professionals alike, bridging the worlds of academia, business, and theology.
De Poole kindly signed copies of her book for the audience after the lecture and answered even more burning questions where sparked by the excellent talk. The evening offered our community a rare opportunity to engage directly with one of the UK’s leading thinkers in these fields, starting conversations that will continue well beyond our 13-18 library.
