St Peter’s Celebrates Communication Friendly Setting Accreditation

St Peter’s 2-8 is celebrating after being awarded the prestigious Communication Friendly Setting (CFS) accreditation by Elklan for our Early Years, in recognition of our commitment to supporting and developing children's speech, language, and communication skills.

The accreditation highlights our dedication to creating an environment where communication is a priority, and every child is given the opportunity to thrive.

To achieve this status, we implemented a range of strategies aimed at enhancing language development from an early age. These included introducing key vocabulary based on children's interests, using the WellComm screening tool to identify those needing support, and working closely with families who speak English as an additional language to incorporate different languages into daily routines.

Staff have also undergone extensive training on the communication chain, developed new ways of engaging with parents, and introduced initiatives such as a 'word of the week' to challenge and expand the vocabulary of all children. The accreditation is a testament to St Peter’s passion and ability to nurture strong communication skills from the very beginning of each child’s learning journey.
