In response to the global coronavirus outbreak, St Peter’s School, York has implemented a strict visitor policy to safeguard the health and wellbeing of the whole school community. Following instructions from the government, the school site will be closed to pupils (apart from children of key workers) from the end of the day on Friday 20 March with no indication given of when that situation will change. We ask that all non-essential visitors also stay away from the school at this time. If your visit is essential, please read our visitor policy before you visit the school.

Who we are

The Friends of St Peter’s (FOSP) help support the school in a variety of projects and activities, aimed at creating a positive and friendly school community.

If you are a parent of a St Peter’s pupil, you are automatically a member of the Friends. FOSP has a small committee which aims to represent every House and year group in the School. In addition, we have helpers, who are not on the committee but who can be called upon to lend a hand at events.

What we do

FOSP help at events including music concerts, race nights, quizzes, cabaret nights, and Stargazing Live. Any funds raised at these events are used to purchase equipment such as benches, electronic scoreboards, specialist music equipment or to support a variety of activities at school for the benefit of the pupils. The raffles we organise at these events are a great way to raise funds and we are always looking for raffle prizes.  Previously we have had bottles of champagne, spa treats, afternoon tea, overnight cottage stays, sacks of logs, and record players!  If you can help by donating a raffle prize please contact the Chair (see details below).

Getting involved

Supporting school events helps to enrich life at St Peter’s for pupils, staff and parents.  We understand that helping on a regular basis is a big commitment, but we would like to encourage all parents to offer their help for just one or two events each year.  Volunteering is also a very good way to get to know other parents. If you would like to offer your help at an individual event, please contact the Chair (see details below). Anyone wishing to be involved should contact the current Chair of FOSP. It’s not all hard work! We have great fun, make lifelong friendships and our work at school events gives us a valuable insight into school life.
