St Peter's 13-18

Girls' Tennis

Girls' tennis at St Peter’s has traditionally always been strong and is a popular summer sport played on twenty three courts.

Across the year groups, the girls can opt for full time tennis (with team selection) 3-4 games sessions per week, or play recreationally.

TennisAmp 0020We run four senior teams and two at both U15 and U14 age groups.

The School enters the AEGON National Schools Competition (U15), the York Junior Tennis League (U18 and U14) and various Invitational Tournaments. The programme is supplemented with a full fixture list against the top schools in the North; an inter-house competition and an internal Singles Tournament for the Shepherd Cup.

The peak of the season is our attendance at Eton College for the National Independent Schools Competition.

The coaching staff includes high level external Professional Tennis Coaches along with experienced PE specialists. The girls are encouraged to enter tournaments outside of School and also to play at tennis clubs to further their development.

The School annually attends a tennis camp at Vale do Lobo on the Algarve, Portugal.
