Sixth Form Exploration Week

Exploration WeekExploration Week is a week of different learning experiences incorporating university-style lectures, practical activities, careers guidance opportunities, team building and debating.

It is held towards the end of the summer term for Lower Sixth pupils.

Usually included are a number of staff led seminars and practical sessions that take pupils away from the A-Level syllabus, including completing cryptic crosswords, bike maintenance, code-breaking and behavioural economics.

Public speaking and debating workshops led by the English Speaking Union are a particular feature. There is also a UCAS preparation day, focusing on the application system, tips on personal statements and other insights into the process, and a major team building day focussing on aspects of leadership and teamwork and sessions of a more practical nature, such as a cookery masterclass.

External speakers add variety to the week with lectures and sessions on forensic science, flower arranging and business risk amongst many others.
